Built by people who were tired of cleaning data.
Finance Data Cloud is a five-person company building one source for crypto market data. We capture every message at the exchange, keep the raw copy, normalize it into one schema and deliver it as a historical archive and a live stream with the same fields.
Every desk rebuilds the same pipeline.
Daniel spent years working alongside trading desks and on market-structure research. On every project, most of the calendar went to the data before any of it went to the question. One venue reports timestamps in milliseconds and another in microseconds. One calls a perpetual BTCUSDT, another BTC-USDT-SWAP, a third BTC. A capture connection can lose messages during volatile minutes, and most vendors fill the hole quietly so nobody can tell where it was.
Each firm we talked to had solved this on its own, usually with a pair of engineers and a folder of venue-specific parsers that nobody wanted to own. Those parsers need rework every time an exchange ships a new API version. Research built on top of them inherits every silent gap and every clock mismatch.
Finance Data Cloud exists so that work happens once, with the gaps written down. We record each venue from two regions, merge the streams by the venue's own sequence numbers and publish a gaps table for anything both regions missed. Every message carries the exchange timestamp and our capture timestamp in nanoseconds, so latency can be measured from the data itself.
The first customers we are building for are quant funds, market makers and research groups who already know what good data looks like and would like to stop producing it themselves.
What we hold the data to.
Three rules decide how the pipeline is built, and each one has a practical consequence for the people using the data.
Captured at the source
Raw messages are recorded directly from each venue we cover, with capture timestamps, before anything is transformed. We keep that raw tier and you can request it, so any normalized row can be traced back to the bytes the venue sent.
Two regions record every venue independently. When they disagree, the venue sequence number decides. When both miss a message, the gap goes in the gaps table with its start, end and sequence range.
One schema
Symbols, sides, timestamps and book updates follow the same format on every venue. BTC-PERP means the same contract shape everywhere, and the exchange's own name stays in venue_symbol.
Prices and sizes are stored as decimal128 in Parquet and as strings in JSON, so nothing is rounded on the way in. Schema changes are versioned and announced in the changelog before they ship.
Historical and live
The archive and the live stream share the same fields, so research code runs in production unchanged. A backtest written against the S3 archive reads the WebSocket stream with one argument changed.
Replay is gap-aware: when you request a window, you get the rows and the list of known gaps inside it from the same API call.
Small team, written decisions, one pipeline.
Five people across New York, London, Lisbon, Berlin and Singapore. For a company that records markets which never close, the spread of time zones helps: someone is awake for every exchange's maintenance window.
Open rolesWhere we are, and what comes next.
Dates from 2027 onward are targets and may move. The roadmap has the venue-by-venue plan.
Backed by people who have paid for market data themselves.
Finance Data Cloud raised a pre-seed round from angel investors who work in trading and market infrastructure. Between them they have run desks, operated matching engines and signed market data contracts out of their own budgets. Several hold roles at firms that may become customers or venues we cover, so we do not publish their names.
The round funds the team, two-region capture for Phase 1 and storage for the raw tier through general availability. We are not raising today. Investors interested in later rounds can write to daniel@financedatacloud.com.
Five people. One pipeline.
New York. Strategy, research and the first call with every partner.
London. Product, partnerships and the commercial side.
Lisbon. Owns the normalization layer and the schema.
Berlin. APIs, streaming and gap-free replay.
Singapore. Capture infrastructure across regions.
Three open roles, all remote.
A senior data engineer, a quant researcher and a developer advocate. Every listing publishes its salary band, equity range and the time zones we can work with.
