Developer Advocate
Be the person who makes the first hour with our API go well. You will own the docs, the quickstart, the example notebooks and the SDK guides, and you will be the first technical contact for early access partners in Q1 2027.
The role
Our customers are quant researchers, data engineers and trading engineers. They will judge us in the first hour: whether pip install fdc works, whether the first query returns what the docs say, and whether the schema answers their questions before they have to ask. You will own that hour.
The v1 API is in draft and goes live with Phase 1. Between now and early access you will turn our reference docs into material people can learn from, build the examples partners will copy into their own code and set up the channels where they ask questions. After launch, you will be the first person partners talk to when something is unclear, and the one who turns their questions into fixes in the docs and the SDK.
What you will do
- Own the documentation: quickstart, guides for the Python SDK, REST, WebSocket and S3, and the per-venue notes. Keep it accurate as v1 moves from draft to general availability.
- Write example notebooks that reproduce real workflows: rebuilding an L3 book at a given moment, aligning funding across venues, joining extended fields to trades.
- Test every release of the SDK and API against the docs before it ships, and file the bugs you find.
- Run onboarding for early access partners in Q1 2027, including a shared support channel and weekly office hours.
- Write technical posts for our blog and give talks at quant and data engineering meetups.
- Collect what partners struggle with and bring it back to Lukas and Maya as concrete changes.
What we are looking for
- Four or more years as a developer advocate, technical writer, solutions engineer or software engineer who wrote a lot of the docs.
- Good Python and comfort with pandas or Polars, Jupyter and REST and WebSocket APIs. You will write code every week.
- Familiarity with financial market data: what a trade, a quote and an order book update are, and why timestamps matter.
- Plain, precise technical writing. Send us something you wrote.
- Patience with users who are experts in their field and new to ours.
Nice to have
- Experience at a data vendor, exchange or trading firm, especially on the client side.
- Knowledge of crypto venues and perpetual futures.
- Experience with docs tooling and API reference generation.
- Talks or videos we can watch.
Compensation
Base salary of $120,000 to $150,000 a year and stock options for 0.15% to 0.30% of the company, vesting over four years with a one-year cliff and a ten-year exercise window after you leave. The band is the same wherever you live, paid in USD or local currency, directly or through an employer of record.
The role includes 25 days of paid leave plus public holidays, health insurance, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, a $3,000 equipment budget, a $2,000 yearly learning budget and an annual company week in person. Conference and meetup travel for talks is paid separately. See the careers page for the full list.
Location and hours
Remote, anywhere from UTC−8 to UTC+1: the Americas, the UK, Ireland, Portugal and western Europe. You will work most closely with Chris in London and Lukas in Berlin, and with partners across US and European hours. Everyone keeps 13:00 to 15:00 UTC free for live discussion. Expect occasional travel for partner visits and conferences, around four trips a year.
Process
- Application, read by a founder, with a reply within a week.
- 30-minute intro call with Chris.
- 60-minute conversation with Lukas: walk us through docs or an example you are proud of, and what you would change in ours.
- Paid work sample, up to four hours, at a flat $400: write a short guide and a notebook for one of our draft endpoints.
- Calls with Daniel, Maya and Priya, plus two references. Decision within three business days.
